DAY 1 - Depart the Rio Grande Valley crossing the border at Reynosa and continuing over Mexico’s newest shortcut to the high plains. Overnight at the Real Plaza in San Luis Potosi.
DAY 2 -Take a walking tour of the downtown area visiting the State Capital Building and the nearby colonial buildings that dot the center of town. Then depart for Guadalajara, known to many as the “city of roses” and the “pearl of the west”. After check in to your centrally located hotel, you may want to walk over to the nearby Plaza de Armas or adjacent Hidalgo Plaza. Tonight, those who wish can go with your guide to the Mariachi Plaza where mariachi groups vie for your attention. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Centro in Guadalajara.
DAY 3 - Field after field of greyish green tequila plants dot the hillsides as we leave Guadalajara. Stop in the town of Tequila where you may want to sample some of the fiery liquid said to be very high in Vitamin A. Arrive mid-afternoon into sunny Puerto Vallarta. Explore the beach before our Welcome Reception. Overnight at the Playa de Oro in Puerto Vallarta. D
DAY 4 - City Tour including downtown and Gringo Gulch where many retirees from the United States have built luxurious homes and live in paradise. Here Elizabeth Taylor had her home. View picturesque Mismaloya Bay where Ava Garner took a midnight swim during the filming of “Night of the Iguana”. This afternoon enjoy an included Bay Cruise as you view the palm lined shore. Overnight at the Playa de Oro in Puerto Vallarta. B,L,D
DAY 5 - An entire day to enjoy the beach, fish, shop or explore more of the area. Enjoy your last night in Puerto Vallarta as you listen to the waves break on the shore. Overnight at the Play de Oro in Puerto Vallarta. B,L,D
DAY 6 - Free morning. After an early lunch, depart for Guadalajara. Visit the Plaza de Armas, the State Capitol with a dynamic mural painted by Clemente Orozco and the giant three storied market. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Centro in Guadalajara. B, L
DAY 7 -Drive to Tlaquepaque where the souvenirs will be easy to find on the local square or at the many shops lining the walking streets. Continue to Lake Chapala and Ajijic, an area laden with flowering gardens where Americans and Canadians have retirement homes. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Centro in Guadalajara.
DAY 8 - Depart for Zacatecas stopping en route at Aguascalientes where you will have time to shop the downtown area for hand embroidered tablecloths, blouses or baby clothes. Continue to colonial Zacatecas arriving in time to visit La Bufa, a mountain top dedicated to the Revolutionary heros. From here you will have a panoramic view of Zacatecas cradled in the valley below. Overnight at the Meson de la Merced or the Hotel Emporio in Zacatecas.
DAY 9 - Homeward bound today as we travel through Saltillo and Monterrey and on to the Rio Grande Valley arriving around 6:30p.m. B
